An Intimate Civil Wedding at Hacienda Sepúlveda: Ale & Gabriel

Some weddings are loud. This one was quiet, and that was the point.

Ale and Gabriel chose a small civil ceremony at Hacienda Sepúlveda, a colonial estate in Los Altos de Jalisco, near Lagos de Moreno. They gave the day to the few people they love most, and that is how we lived it.

Before the ceremony

Ale got ready inside the hacienda, with that calm only small weddings have. Then she walked over to Gabriel for the first look: he turned around, she arrived, and for a moment nothing needed to be said.

Just the two of them

With the first look behind them, they had time to just be together. We walked the hacienda without rushing, between stone arches and bougainvillea walls, right as the light was starting to turn golden.

The people and the place

At a wedding like this, the people around you are the ones you really chose. Both families, the hugs, Ale’s dad kissing her forehead. And the hacienda with its own personality: bougainvillea on the facade and even peacocks walking around the gardens like they own them.

The ceremony by the lake

Late in the afternoon we got to the lake. The ceremony was on the islet, with the tree reflected in the water behind them. They read their vows and, when the light dropped, the lights over the water came on. A small wedding, and a whole one.
