Destination weddings in Mexico · Fernando Ruiz

Everything you need for your destination wedding.

How I work, what’s included, what you get and how much it costs, travel already included.

01

You won’t have to pose

Almost no one feels comfortable in front of a camera, and that’s normal. My job is to make you forget I’m there. What comes out afterward is your real face, not your photo face.

02

I travel, you don’t pay extra

My flight, lodging and my team’s transportation are already included in the price you see here. No second invoice showing up later.

03

You’ll have photos soon

One week after your wedding, a preview lands in your inbox. Not three months later, when no one’s asking anymore.

The packages

Ways to cover your destination wedding

This isn’t just about hours, it’s about how big your celebration is: an intimate one-day wedding, a full day, or an entire weekend with your guests. I’ll help you find the one that’s yours.

For intimate weddings

Portrait of the couple in a San Miguel de Allende vineyard

Essential

5 hours of coverage · photo only

For short or intimate weddings, where everything happens in one place: the ceremony, portraits and the start of the party. I don’t offer video for this one: for a wedding this size, adding a videographer costs more than it adds. If you’d still like it, we can quote it separately.

For this package I only offer photography coverage

For full-day weddings

Short wedding or a single venue, Pure. With travel between locations, Soul. From getting ready to the party without watching the clock, Legacy.

Groom lifting and spinning the bride in a garden

Pure

8 hours of coverage

For a wedding that happens almost entirely in one place and doesn’t run long. Some cover the whole day, from getting ready to the bouquet toss; others don’t make it through the entire party. It depends on yours. I’m there for photo, plus one person for video.

Newlyweds embracing under the veil

Soul

10 hours of coverage

For a wedding that doesn’t happen entirely in one place, with the ceremony at one venue and the party at another. The day takes up more time, so it gets two extra hours.

If you have a dinner, welcome party or any welcome event the day before your wedding, I’ll gift you one hour of photo coverage, if you book before August 31.

Legacy

12 hours · full coverage

It’s the time most single-day weddings need: the most important moments are covered without feeling rushed. With video, in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato it’s four of us; if your wedding is somewhere else, it’s three.

If you have a dinner, welcome party or any welcome event the day before your wedding, I’ll include one hour of photo coverage as a gift.

Your video is delivered with your gallery: a highlights reel of about 3 minutes to share, and a 20 to 25 minute film to relive the full day. For destination weddings I work with a single videographer, so it’s one video camera.

The hours adapt to your wedding. Based on your itinerary, I can tell you how many hours you’ll need and what time I’d suggest starting. If you’re short by an hour, it’s added loose without changing packages.

For multi-day celebrations

Weekend

16 hours of photography over 3 days

For when your celebration runs three days: welcome, wedding and day-after. That’s 16 hours of coverage in total, and you decide how to split them across the three. The most common split is something like 2 hours for the welcome, 12 hours on your wedding day and 2 hours for the day-after, but if your celebration calls for a different mix (say, less for the welcome and more on the wedding day), we work it out together. It’s a better deal than building Legacy and adding loose hours later.

On social media, and up above too, you see one or two good photos from a wedding. That’s not enough to see what really matters: how the story is told from start to finish, with the light changing and moments that happen only once, and how each of you feels. In my galleries I post a full summary of the wedding, not just a handful of the best-looking shots. Go through one and decide from there.

What you’ll get, no matter what

A preview within a week

Seven days after your wedding I send you around 20 already-edited photos. On purpose: so that by the time everyone starts asking if you have photos yet, you already have something to show.

Your full gallery online

Between one and three months later, in a private gallery you can share with anyone and download in high resolution.

Travel already included

My flight, lodging and my team’s transportation are already included in the price you see above. No fine print, no separate invoice showing up later.

A day you actually enjoy

Some couples want a long portrait session, others prefer to get back to their guests quickly. We plan it together, it’s not my call.

What people always ask

Questions

Is travel extra?
No. The price you see already includes my flight, lodging and transportation. No extra invoice will show up later.
How many people come for Legacy photo and video?
In San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato it’s four of us: me, a second photographer and two people for video, same as in León. If your wedding is somewhere farther, it’s three: me on photography and two people for video, without a second photographer, so flying more people doesn’t raise your wedding’s cost for no reason.
Is the deposit half the package?
No. Most photographers in Mexico ask for 50% to hold a date; I ask for $10,000 for photo only and $15,000 for photo and video. We work out the rest in payments up until the wedding.
What happens if we move the date?
It’s possible, and it depends on two things: that you let me know with enough notice for me to book that date, and that I’m free on the new one. If both happen, your deposit moves with you to the new date. If notice comes too late, the deposit is lost and the new date requires a new deposit. This is also written into the contract.
How long until we get the photos?
The preview of about 20 photos arrives one week later. The full gallery in one to three months, depending on the season. If you booked video, it’s delivered together with the gallery.
Is there a contract?
Always. It’s sent to your email, you sign it from your phone, and everything is spelled out: hours, date, location, what’s included and what you pay. It’s your peace of mind, and mine too.
What if my wedding is in León?
I have separate pricing for León and the surrounding area, lower because there’s no travel involved. Message me and I’ll send it over.
